On July 23, 2025, Juniper had the honor to join the Scaling Women-Led Hygiene Enterprises workshop, hosted by UN Women and ACTED Lebanon.
The event brought together 15 inspiring organizations from across Lebanon – all working to produce and distribute menstrual hygiene products locally. From small start-ups to established NGOs, each participant shared the same mission: to make menstrual care more accessible, sustainable, and empowering for women and girls.
As a business dedicated to sustainable menstrual hygiene products we were proud to join this powerful exchange. Our products aren’t just eco-friendly alternatives; they’re tools for autonomy, dignity, and long-term affordability.
A day of collaboration and learning
The workshop sessions tackled pressing industry questions:
· Should we focus on reusable or disposable products?
· How can we maintain quality and hygiene standards across different production methods?
· What business models can keep menstrual care both affordable and financially sustainable?
We also explored distribution challenges in urban and rural areas, culturally sensitive marketing strategies, and potential collaborations for procurement and advocacy.
Showcasing Juniper
During the fair, we showcased our products, answered questions, and connected with organizations eager to integrate sustainable options into their offerings. It was encouraging to see growing interest in reusables – not just for environmental reasons, but for the way they shift the conversation around menstrual health from shame to empowerment.
Looking ahead
This gathering reaffirmed that while the menstrual hygiene sector in Lebanon faces challenges – from cost barriers to cultural stigma – there is a vibrant community of innovators ready to address them. For us at Juniper, the day was about more than networking; it was about standing alongside other women-led initiatives, sharing knowledge, and imagining a future where every person has safe, sustainable, and dignified menstrual care.
